Tis' the Summer of the Maxi dress

For those of us who lived through the late 60's and early 70's, these dresses bring back lots of fond memories (or so I've been told). Loose, carefree, cool summer living is back!
Now, tell me vintage tractors aren't the best....

On with the gloves!

One of my favorite movie scenes is from "Gone With The Wind" - Scarlett prepares for her meeting with Rhett and is desperate to make the right impression, after all she was a wealthy woman, a southern belle. But that was before the war. She makes a gorgeous gown out of the velvet curtains (amazingly still intact after the devastation) and pulls on her beautiful gloves. When she arrives she is resistant to removing her gloves and Rhett notices this. The truth is revealed - her hands are work worn, her family is in ruins, she appeals to him for help, but was too proud to present herself any other way!

Happy 4th of July!

March to the strains of Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever", enthusiastically played by the local middle school band. Relish in the smell of grilling steaks and the distinctive sound of the snap and sizzle of a beer can being gently coaxed open. Savor the frothy head that bubbles to the surface. Help the kids husk the corn and shuck the peas. Prepare the bonfire for the festivities ahead. Relax. Enjoy. Slow down. Happy Independence Day!

Depressed?

Rare 1930s gowns teach us a few lessons about depression... a little less material, but all the impact of a fancy ball gown. Skip the Prozac, toast the economy with a little homemade hooch.

Swedish Invasion

A group of five (adorable, stunning, tall, sweet...) Swedish fashion design students descended on our vintage abode this spring. They were taken with our passion and dedication and we were blown away by their manners and perfect English. We expect great things from these ladies.

Scooter girl

Personally, you would find me bar-side watching the action on the tennis court, G&T in hand yucking it up with a guy named Lindsay. I wouldn't be caught dead actually playing the game.
It's up! WallflowerVintage.com is OPEN!

After how long?

Finally!?

Ok, so I'm a little slow...

(but I'm good!)

love,
